Paper or plastic may not be uttered much longer in Austin. The city is moving ahead with a proposed ban on plastic bags.
City leaders were hoping at least 50 percent of stores would comply with the voluntary ban of plastic bags. But over the last four years, only 20 percent have complied.
The city is urging citizens to use reusable bags are made from recycled materials so they don't last forever like plastic bags do. San Francisco and Washington DC has already banned plastic bags.
Some may expect Austin to be the first city in Texas to ban plastic bags but Brownsville was the first large city in Texas to adopt this plan, according to Brownsville Mayor Lee Leffingwell. Mayor Leffingwell practices what he preaches. He carries a collection of reusable bags in his car. The idea is simple. No more plastic bags.

Boarding could be a much better solution because a veterinary healthcare facility is closer to home meaning no long car or truck or plane rides and their program can be maintained. Maybe you are thinking about leaving your pet dog with a friend or relative entrusting that they will have the time and learn the way to take care of them.
