City of Austin wants to ban Plastic Bags

Is this sanitary or insanity for dog owners.

The City of Austin wants to ban all plastic bags and replace them with recyclable paper bags.
Right, we all know how moist fido's # 2 can be.
It seems like of the cities hands doesn't know what the other one is doing.
First there is the closing of Bull Creek and other off leash parks and now we have the issue
of sanitarily picking up the poop the city is so concerned about.

I will put money on it. There are already so many pet owners that do not pick up after their dogs.
This could turn into a messy situation if there is an increase in reluctance to clean up the poop.

Here is a story that ran on Fox News;

City Looks to Ban Plastic Bags

Paper or plastic may not be uttered much longer in Austin. The city is moving ahead with a proposed ban on plastic bags.

City leaders were hoping at least 50 percent of stores would comply with the voluntary ban of plastic bags. But over the last four years, only 20 percent have complied.

The city is urging citizens to use reusable bags are made from recycled materials so they don't last forever like plastic bags do. San Francisco and Washington DC has already banned plastic bags.

Some may expect Austin to be the first city in Texas to ban plastic bags but Brownsville was the first large city in Texas to adopt this plan, according to Brownsville Mayor Lee Leffingwell. Mayor Leffingwell practices what he preaches. He carries a collection of reusable bags in his car. The idea is simple. No more plastic bags.
